Description

Carved cedar wall plaque by Delmar Joseph, a member of the Squamish First Nation of British Columbia, Canada. Measuring approximately 7" tall by 5" wide, the work depicts a stylized Indigenous face with carved feather detail and headband. The back is inscribed: “Delmar Joseph, Squamish, BC, Canada, Coast Salish Indian.” Delmar Joseph began carving in 1967 at the age of 11 under the guidance of his father, Larry Joseph. His brother, Floyd Joseph, is a well-known artist and Chief. This piece reflects the bold, refined carving style associated with Coast Salish traditions.
