Caithness "Flamenco" Collection - Hand-Blown Glass Vase • The "Flamenco" range was originally introduced around 1987, and designed by Caithness's chief designer, Colin Terris. • Colin Terris is considered the "father of modern Caithness" art glass. He joined the company as head design in 1968, and took inspiration from both Scandinavian minimalism, and the natural Scottish landscapes. • Caithness Glass is uniquely celebrated for a proprietary color spectrum inspired directly by the Scottish landscape. 1) The "Heather" Frit: The underlying mottled lavender layer uses crushed glass (frit) mixed into the clear body. 2) The "Amethyst" Canes: The dark purple stripes are concentrated cane glass melted onto the surface to contrast against the softer lavender backing. • This vase has "shelf wear" on the base which indicates this piece has some age. • There is a rough pontil mark, meaning this was individually blown, and not made in a factory where the pontil would have been ground flat or smooth. • In excellent condition, no cracks, breaks, or chips.
