Dating back to the post-Civil War era (circa late 1860s to 1880s), this elaborate set serves as both a functional serving masterpiece and a stunning display heirloom. The centerpiece features a massive, heavily insulated double-walled pitcher designed to swivel smoothly on its original formal structural frame. This layout allowed users to pour ice water into a cup with a simple tip of the hand without lifting the heavy weight of the container. The exterior of the pitcher is richly decorated with classic High-Victorian chased and repoussé ornamentation, featuring detailed botanical patterns, floral scrollwork, geometric bands, a fluted scalloped lid, and a stylized finial.
