A.Y. JACKSON "  Winter Village” , St Lawrence River   8.25" x 10.375" image size Limited Edition Icon Lithograph on Hardwood 90/460 We have the unique opportunity to promote this rare collection of Canadian icon paintings reproduced in a revolutionary format. Every brush stroke, every patch of unpainted surface, every minute mark, both intended and unintended is duplicated with perfect fidelity. In 45 years we have never seen a finer recreation of an original painting. A cast was created with each painting pressed into a mould, making them virtually identical to the original work of art. The lithograph is printed on neutral pH Phoenix Imperial fine art paper, employing the unique process. Every detail of brushwork and texture in the original oil is duplicated, producing a genuinely recreated painting on the substrate, an African hardwood panel. These incredible Panels with texture sold for over 600 in the 1990's ! Born in Montreal, A.Y. Jackson began his career in the art department of a lithographing company. He studied at Monument National and at the Art Association of Montreal under William Brymner. In 1905, he visited Europe, then worked as a commercial artist in Chicago, studying at night at the Art Institute. He moved to France from 1907 to 1910, during which time he studied at Academie Julian in Paris. Jackson returned to Europe in 1911 with Albert Robinson, then moved to Toronto in 1913. He enlisted in the army that year and a became a war artist. A.Y. Jackson was a founding member of the Group of Seven in 1920. He moved to Manotick, Ontario, in 1955 and to the McMichael Gallery grounds in 1968. Pickup category timeslot {A}
