Exhibiting the yin & yang of a true Monk&#39;s bench, this hardwood settle features 19th C simplicity with a hinged box seat offering ample storage, dentil detailing at the base and fluted box legs and arms.  The elaborate back panels with winged griffins, and the carved crest offer up much more - a symmetry of ornamental scrolling and a central scallop shell motif.  It all works out as one, and is a well-balanced piece. Faded peach paint throughout pulls this piece together beautifully. Please note all pictures: wear is consistent with age and use.  Still, a sturdy, functional and fascinating item.

Monk&#39;s Bench 

Dramatic hand-carved piece features a village scene. Spreading trees shelter thatched huts and villagers engaged in a variety of farming-related jobs. Clothing places this in the mid-1900s. Stained wood, likely teak, in excellent condition. This piece may hail from Baan Tawai, a village in northern Thailand know for its handicrafts, especially wood carvings. Heavy, you will need to bring help to remove from the wall.

Large Carved Thai Wall Hanging

Mohr & McPherson was a well-known importer of furniture from around the world, once headquartered in Boston&#39;s South End, where a stream of decorators was a constant presence. Founders Kevin McPherson and John Mohr traveled the world to source unique furniture and decor; today, McPherson operates a web-only store. This trunk has a single large compartment accessed by the hinged lid, and rolls on wooden wheels. Metal strapping, hasp closures, and bail handles. The distressed surface is painted in gently faded teals and rusts, with each square on the front enhanced with punched metal pieces. Will be emptied before pickup; contents not included. Mohr &#38; McPherson Rolling Trunk

Distinctive oak columns will add an arts & crafts flair to any passage you have in mind. These decidedly Mission-styled pillars with their simple, straight, square design can make a strong statement without overpowering accompanying decor. Lighted Mission Pillars

Religious statuary and unusual items, includes 3 copper plates for reverse printing, with two having &#34;O Holy Night&#34; text and one saying &#34;Rejoice He is Risen.&#34;  Large brass sunburst monstrance, with small glass lunette containing a piece of the Host. Monstrances are used in Catholic and other churches to display the consecrated Host, as a vehicle for prayer and meditation. Carved and painted wood santos figure, possibly one of the Apostles; other figures of wood and resin including a Black Madonna; and a large and elaborate candle of the crucifixion. Religious Figures 

One of a kind large, heavy coffee table is hand painted in gold on dark, almost black, ground, and signed by artist Renato Riccio. A zodiac circle is bordered by the legend &#34;The Processional Cycle of the Ages 2000 Anno Domini The Age of Aquarius.&#34; The circle shows each sign&#39;s astrological symbol, and the season in which each sign occurs, while opposing corners feature Celtic knots and a sun and moon face. Two dovetail drawers on opposite sides pull out by means of finger holes; the drawers, skirt, and legs are decorated with pin-striping. Some wear, as shown. Hand-painted and Signed Astrological Coffee Table

Senufo stools are hand-carved by members of the Senufo ethnic groups of West Africa, spread across Mali, Ghana, Burkina Faso, and Ivory Coast. They feature curved seats and thick tapered legs, and are often made from a single piece of iroko or cedar wood, as with the smaller stool here. The short-legged versions were used in rural communities on wash day, to allow women to sit while they scrubbed clothes; taller versions could be used by elders, chiefs, or other important members of a community. The taller stool also makes an artful small table for bedside, or in your living room. We&#39;ve added a rustic carved wooden bowl with leather lacing around the rim.

Senufo Stools

A varied flock, with different species in different materials, all in good condition. The red-tail hawk is hand-carved and painted, and signed K.W. White on the base. White is one of the artists at Montana&#39;s Big Sky Carvers, founded in 1980, where birds, bears and more are rendered in carved wood figures, all detailed and faithful to the living animal. Three brass birds: a seagull, a crane, and an owl whose head spins off -- possibly intended as an unusual shot glass. A terrific cast iron pigeon, highly realistic, with one damaged wing, as shown. And more! We especially love the small wooden ibis, painted gold and evoking hieroglyphs and Egyptian art ...

Flock of Birds

A simple wrought iron settee with curved arm rests and thick solid wrapped backing just begging for your seat pads!  Deep seat and in very good shape with the exception of rust on underside.  Paired here with a round terra cotta storage vessel covered with uniform protruding &#34;nubs&#34;.  Known as a LOBI, a favored pottery of the people of Burkina Faso. Provenance on this item unknown - tag in picture indecipherable.   No lid.

Wrought Iron Settee and African Lobi Pot

Modeled on Diego Giacometti&#39;s Le Chat Maître d&#39;Hôtel, this piece is likely cast spelter, a zinc-lead alloy with the weight of bronze, here with an aged coppery patina. Giacometti, brother of sculptor Alberto Giacometti, created the original in the 1960s. Over the course of his lifetime, it&#39;s estimated that he created over 5,000 pieces, including sculptures, furniture, and architectural fittings, most notably among these last the furniture, railings, lamps, and other elements for the Picasso Museum in Paris. This charming piece presents a standing cat on a rectangular base, holding a shallow tray--perfect for change, jewelry, cards, and other small items. One arm appears to have a hairline crack, as shown.

Classical Figures 

Here we have two owls (and another white one shown separately) atop a sweet wooden hexagonal Moorish style side table in teal and pinks with interesting spindlework and geometric patterning (note: wear and some paint chips).  The larger colorful ceramic owl is labeled &#34;Andrea by Sadek&#34; (Made in Japan) and sits majestically (is there any other way?!) atop a tree branch and circular ceramic base.  Two more smaller almost identical white ceramic owls offered here, one with paper stamp and crown image reading &#34;Golden Crown E&R Italy&#34;, and the second signed inscription on base reads &#34;A. Giamelli&#34;

Bells have long been used to focus attention, whether for worship, danger, to draw us away from the world and into our inner selves, or to mark periods of time. This lot runs the gamut from a small antique brass knocker bell to shop counter bell, temple bells to a German handbell with the names of the Four Evangelists around its shoulder, and a wonderful cast iron bell hanging from a wooden yoke to adorn a table, with four images of Ganesh around the waist. Bells

Once found in kitchens before installed cabinets became the norm, this enameled metal cabinet is the cousin to a hoosier. It features beveled glass inserts, a 2-door top compartment, with 3 drawers and a single compartment below the work surface. Replacement shelving both top and bottom. Original hardware pulls, with one missing on the top door. Wear as shown, commensurate with age and a busy kitchen. We&#39;ve added a nice set of useful ceramics, circa 1930s. These pieces were included when one bought a refrigerator from GE or Westinghouse, and each is in like-new condition: pitcher, covered butter or cheese keeper, and covered small round dish, from Hall Ovenware China. The pitcher is missing its lid--we&#39;re looking! Also, three pieces of hobnail amber glass, including a lidded chicken dish, a lidded round dish, and a vase with flared mouth. Plus an unopened tin box from Celia Birtwell, with a few necessities for the home or office. Bring help and appropriate vehicle.

For the collector, an octet of vintage bookends, several from PM Craftsman. Founded in 1911, the company is known for its wide variety of thematic bookends. Those we know to be from PM Craftsman are the open books, with their original decals; those we believe to be from them are the maple leafs, and the metal eagles. Vintage French Trunk

This large hinged box is in excellent condition, and a nice contemporary example of the ancient Japanese art of lacquerwork, believed to date as far back as 14,000 BCE. The lacquer, from the lacquer tree, seals wooden items and protects them from decay. This handpainted box has brass hasp latches, bail handles, and hinges. Stylized butterflies, fronds, and flowers in gold decorate a black ground, smoothly lacquered. Felt lined, simple wooden bar for each side&#39;s foot. Very good condition.

An odd threesome offered here...Justice is Blind: A sculpture from Argentinian artist Hugo De Ritis of Lady Justice holding the scales and sword, with the requisite blindfold wrapped over her eyes. And a lidded heavy metal walnut shaped container with a natural textured feel and glowing &#34;bronzed&#34;glaze.  A classic lidded bubble glass apothecary jar, ornately detailed and feeling heavily Spanish in a pewtered finish.

Unusual Threesome featuring Hugo De Ritis

A handsome, gridded, soldered sphere on a heavy metal base from the Holiday Gallery.  A  tall, tubular vase with 1-2&#34; white ceramic rings wrapped and layered strategically around the cylinder giving it unusual and interesting depth and texture.  Also, a Sarsaparilla Art Deco Revival Lamp (stamped)  After Frankart Design, originally on 5th Ave in NYC.   Frankart lamps are known for their distinctive Art Deco style, which often includes geometric patterns and stylized figures. Here, their so-called &#34;nudie girl&#34; holds up a lit orb that gives the impression she&#39;s holding up the moon. Frosted glass disc is chipped but still functional.

Deco-esque!

The glazed, hand-painted guinea hens are from artist Heidi Caillard, who worked in Uzes and later Lussan, France. After studying fine arts and ceramics, she began to create figures based on her own guinea hens, opening her pottery in 1968. Using locally-sourced Provence clay, she developed a variety of colors and patterns for her birds. Each piece is shaped in a mold, then glazed, then hand-painted, and finally fired. Her son Adrien continues the tradition. These highly collectible pieces are in the Medium-size range; one retains the original decal. 
Plus a sweet pair of rock partridges, calling to each other from their perches on branches, in an unsigned bisque pair. One tiny flake to one base, as shown.

Two beautiful bowls, handcrafted with a blend of many metals including possibly gold, silver, copper, iron, tin, lead and zinc giving them heft but an ability to emit a sweet lingering and soothing healing frequency when struck or rubbed on the rim. They&#39;re used to evoke inner peace and a deep calm. Inscribed inside each with a &#34;Buddha&#39;s eye&#34; representing wisdom, insight, and spiritual awareness. Also, just a fine decorative conversation piece and exceptional catch-all!

Tibetan Singing Bowls

Two massive 48-Star flags, representing the US from 1912-1959, one in very good condition, most likely flown off a ship mast based on the roping support attached.  Brilliant colors, not faded, well-preserved.  The better of the two shows some small holes, stains, and a minor reparable rip at the base hem and it needs a cleaning.  Apologies to all fellow patriots for placing this gem on the ground - it was the only way to display full condition! Second flag not examined in full view but similar vintage and size.  Offered here with a rose gold-washed cast iron iconic eagle plaque with screws attached on the back.
