RARE 1930's Art Deco H K TUNSTALL Panola Vase

• H&K Tunstall made earthenware and porcelain by Hollinshead & Kirkham Ltd. founded in Burslem, Staffordshire, in 1870, and later moved to Tunstall in 1876. Known for its nature-inspired designs, especially those by designer Harold Growcott in the 1920's, the company became successful but was incorporated into the Johnson Bros Group in 1956. • Vintage H & K TUNSTALL hand painted "PANOLA" design vase. • This is the "DUTCH" shape, meaning the rounded shape with the straight edged lip. • This vase dates from the late 1933 to mid 1942 (pre-War). • Hand painted over transfer in the typical bold Tunstall style. Rarely seen pattern called "PANOLA" features stylized yellow, maroon pansies and leaves on a vivid multi colored background ranging from a midnight black at the base, to a bluey- grey and ultimately a "sponged" purple at the top.
