Pair of Antique French Quilt Pillows #1

The first pair of pillows depicts a woman in a field with a sheaf of wheat is a classic example of the imagery found in toile de Jouy fabric. This type of pastoral scene was very popular and reflected the idealized view of rural life that was fashionable in the 18th century, the period when Toile originated. Due to the quilt's age you can see that the colour has faded slightly but still has much life left in it. The pillows themselves have an off white backing and have feather inserts with invisible zipper closures.
