Description

• Under the Qing dynasty (1644-1910), sancai wares were one of several earlier Chinese styles revived at a high quality level, reflecting the antiquarian tastes of the emperors. • "Sancai" style refers to the green (copper) and ochre (iron) colours the used by Tang Dynasty in the 7th century. This piece also has blue (cobalt). • The image is made by pressing a wooden or metal disque into the clay, so that the design can be repeated. • Low fired clay, decorated with oxides, and a lead glaze applied. There is a stamp on the side of the tile showing the factory or city where the tile was made. • This tile dates between 1870 to 1900. • In excellent condition, no breaks, cracks, but there are some chips on one corner. There has been a thick cork facing attached, so it could be used for a pot rest. View Images. • .5" x 7.25" x 7.25" Measurements: .5" x 7.25" x 7.25" Pickup category timeslot {A}
