Description

• Edo Kiriko is a traditional Japanese glass craft that involves cutting intricate patterns into the surface of glass. The name translates to "cut glass from the city of Edo", which was Tokyo's name during the Edo period (1603-1868). • The craft's origins can be traced back to the late Edo period when people began experimenting with ways to reproduce the beautiful glassware they admired from the West. • This set dates between 1970 and 1990. • The traditional kiriko technique is where colored glass is delicately layered over clear crystal and hand-cut to reveal mesmerizing geometric and floral motifs. • In excellent condition. No breaks, cracks, or chips.
